Songs of Guilt

Last night, one of the nurses was expressing her dislike for a high maintenance patient. I’m sure you could come up with some clever names for people like that…and we have. However, in the midst of her quibble, I found myself singing, “Heal the world–make it a better place…”

Another co-worker joined in…”for you and for me and the entire human race.”

That was about the time she told us to ‘shut up’. If that doesn’t make you feel slight guilt, then I don’t know what would.

Note: Now in her defense, it is very frequent to have patients that demand more than others and are much more capable than those that need more attention. But it worked.
